Segundo resolução da Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa) publicada na última semana no Diário Oficial da União (DOU), as novas regras vão ajustar os regulamentos do Brasil aos do Mercosul e, assim, facilitarão o comércio entre os países.

Uma das medidas da Anvisa determina que a expressão light só poderá ser empregada em alimentos que apresentarem redução de algum nutriente em comparação com uma versão convencional do mesmo produto. Até agora, o adjetivo podia ser aplicado em alimentos com baixo teor de algum nutriente – mas não necessariamente um teor menor do que o produto de referência.

A resolução também determinou que, para um alimento ter em seu rótulo a informação de que é rico em alguma proteína, deve atender a um critério mínimo de qualidade. Para Agenor Álvares, diretor de Controle e Monitoramento Sanitário da Anvisa, essa alteração poderá proteger o consumidor de “práticas enganosas como, por exemplo, o uso de alegações de fonte de proteína em alimentos que contenham proteínas incompletas e de baixa qualidade.”
